Springfield's Favorite Family Makes Its Debut in Psyonix's Hit Game: Unfortunately Not the Vehicle Fans Are Dreaming Of

It was previously announced that the iconic animated series was collaborating with Fortnite, but that's not the only destination where enthusiasts can immerse themselves in the universe of Springfield. The long-running series is coming over to the popular soccer-driving hybrid, introducing an in-game car skin that will also be compatible in Fortnite. However, if gamers will truly desire to equip it is another question, as there's only one Simpsons car the community is itching to drive, and this new offering isn't that one.

The Dream Vehicle

While many gamers would undoubtedly love to compete while driving The Homer—the famously flawed automobile Homer designed himself in the classic installment "Oh Brother, Where Art Thou?"—that's not what's being offered. We aren't even receiving the massive SUV, the heavy-duty vehicle featured in the tenth season. Instead, fans are getting the Simpsons' everyday well-worn sedan, which has been in the family since the show's early days. Though this particular car has accumulated plenty of miles, it stands as an iconic element of the show. For those who pay attention to Rocket League car hitboxes, the trusty sedan shares the identical collision model as the Dominus body type.

More Than Just a Car

And it's not the sole cosmetic from the show arriving in the game. The event will also include a series of objectives to earn more rewards, all of which are Simpsons-themed. According to a official announcement, the missions will task participants to "get as many centers and clears as there are the show's seasons, collect boost pickups as if your navigation is set to The Simpsons’ residence, and travel a specific distance sufficient for acquiring the perfect donuts!"

Although the full lineup of challenge rewards isn't yet disclosed, here is what has been confirmed up to this point:

  • Blinky topper
  • Homer's hedge-themed banner
  • Garbage-themed wheels
  • 20,000 experience points for each challenge

If the key art is a reliable guide, it appears fans will also receive wheels with a TV displaying The Simpsons' opening credits, Kang and Kodos topper, a sprinkled donut boost trail, and boost effects themed to smoldering rubber and Krusty Burger.

Event Timing and Fortnite Connection

The Rocket League collaboration lines up with the major Simpsons takeover of Fortnite's island, which brings a brand-new map of the fictional town, as well as a month-long Battle Pass. The Rocket League x The Simpsons event begins on November 1st and concludes on Nov. 17.
